Thoughts of a Novice Gardener... Part 5

"Therefore Jesus spoke to them again, saying, 'I am the light of the world. The one following Me shall not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.'" ~ John 8:12 (BLB)

It is by photosynthesis that plants leverage sunlight as energy to get what they need and grow.

It is by following Him in His ways that we leverage SONlight to get what we need and grow.

I was thinking about the role of the sun in growing my little garden, and I remembered a practice of old that was referred to as "sunning the children." Sometimes it was even prescribed by doctors.

Especially in the north during winter months, children would be bundled up, but set out in whatever sunlight was available to get fresh air and any benefit they could to either get well or remain well.

What a perfect parallel to the ways we need the Son.

In His case, we would ideally live perpetually in His Light. But, we're human, so we know that's unlikely.

When we're sad...

When we're stuck...

When we're frustrated...

When the craziness of the world begins to get to us...

What if, in those moments, the children of God chose to Son themselves?

What if we would bask in the Light of the Savior and the Word of the Father anytime anything was amiss?

What do you suppose would happen then?

I'd sure like to find out. Perhaps we'll challenge each other. I will if you will. :)

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You so very much for each new day. As dawn breaks and our day begins, thank You for the reminder of the sun to turn our face toward the Son and become ever more like Him. Thank You for helping us to walk the path for which we were created so that we might take your Sonlight with us wherever we go. Thank You for your countless gifts, blessings, and miracles. And, thank You for giving us the eyes to see and the ears to hear. These things we pray in the most holy name of Your Son, Yeshua. AMEN!!!

"For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us..." ~ Ephesians 2:14 (KJB)

"Yeshua said to them, 'I AM THE LIVING GOD, The Bread of Life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever trusts in me shall never thirst.'" ~ John 6:35 (ABPE)

"Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." ~ Philippians 2:9-11 (ESV)

May the Good Lord bless you and keep you, friends... always, in all ways. Amen.

Bonus song of praise...
