The Most Important Relationship of Our Lives

"But You, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion and faithfulness." ~ Psalm 86:15

Hello and happy Monday, one and all!

Short and sweet today.

I've been thinking about relationships.

Relationships take work. They're not for the faint of heart.

Things aren't always clear.

We make countless mistakes.

Clear communication is critical.

We say the wrong thing.

We disappoint those we love.

Authentic forgiveness becomes habit, if we're to live out our relationships well and for the long haul.

We have to build and rebuild bridges.

We must choose to stand strong for the other person and for the relationship.

... And, that's only where it all begins.

... And, that's just with other humans.

But, what about God?

That relationship, my friends, is the absolute most important relationship of our lives. And, it's not all that dissimilar.

It takes work. It takes intentional action.

Things are not always clear. But, we trust and obey and step out in faith.

We make countless mistakes, and His mercy is new each morning.

We must choose to remain in constant communication, by praying without ceasing, opening our hearts to Him, and listening.

We say and do the wrong things. We disappoint Him. And thank God, His forgiveness is there for us.

And, we must learn to forgive in the world as near to the way He forgives us as is humanly possible.

We must choose to stand strong for Him, for His truth, and for whatever He has put us here to do, whomever He has put us here to be and touch.

... And, that's only where it all begins.

How extraordinary.

What beautiful work we have the privilege of forging in this most important of all relationships.

It's an intentional journey.

I don't suspect this is news to anyone. But, in an odd way, sometimes it's refreshing to the soul to be reminded. It certainly has refreshed my journey, even speaking the truth of it here, and I thank you.

May your walk with Him be blessed beyond comprehension in ways supernatural.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for helping us to know You better with each setting of the sun.

Thank You for helping us to put our relationship with You above all else.

And, thank You for helping each of us to remember, know, and experience the truth that when we put You first, all else goes easier for us.

Thank You for the countless blessings of living in relationship with You.

All this we pray in the most Holy Name of Your Son,

"Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or terrified of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you." ~ Deuteronomy 31:6

"But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint." ~ Isaiah 40:31

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." ~ 2 Timothy 1:7

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;" ~ Proverbs 3:5

May the Good Lord bless you and keep you, friends... always, in all ways. Amen.

Bonus song of praise...
