Sinner, Sinner, Chicken Dinner!!!

"Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for his mercies never end. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness! I say, 'The Lord is my portion, therefore I will put my hope in him.'" ~ Lamentations 3:22-24 (CSB)

The phrase "Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!" Is a gambling declaration of victory... which, admittedly makes it an odd choice for glorifying the Word of God. Do you ever get into the whole conversation of enough, when it comes to your faith?

Am I enough?

Do I do enough?

Have I chosen Him enough or well enough or enough times or enough enough?

I was chided yesterday by a non-believer for saying I had work to do. I was informed that if I was Christian enough, I wouldn't work on a Sunday.

I proceeded to explain that according to the Old Testament, the sabbath was to be observed on Saturday, that I'm rather old school in my day of rest, and that Jesus-lovers moved it to Sunday in honor of the Resurrection. If you've known me long, you'll know that's a subject that could get me off course, so lest I digress too far...

It got me thinking how often our inner dialogue takes us to the place of not feeling enough for God, enough for salvation.

My friends, that's a pointless rabbit warren of thought, because it's not our job to be enough.

He is enough.

He is perfect love, perfect mercy, perfect humanity, and He is the filter through which we are seen and judged.

It's our job to choose Him.

Please don't mistake my meaning here. I'm not saying, go out and sin it up.

But, here's the thing...

We do.

We're human.

We make mistakes.

At times, we're less than our best.

We step out of line.

We sin.

And, thank You, Jesus... His mercies are new each morning.

In poker, the best possible hand is a royal flush. An ace, a king, a queen, a jack, and a ten, all of the same suit.

Nothing can beat it.

We've been dealt the most Royal royal flush possible, a hand that includes the King of Kings. And, nothing can beat it.

All forgiveness is yours.

All mercy is yours.

All grace is yours.

You are enough, just as He made you.

You choose Him, you cling to Him.

He is your Rock.

By His blood you are cleansed, by His stripes you are healed.

You are free indeed.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You.

Thank You for helping us to become more like Your Son, day by day, breath by breath. And, when we aren't because we're human, thank You for Your forgiveness. Thank You for helping us to see ourselves through Your eyes, so that we may take Your exquisite grace, mercy, forgiveness, and strength into ourselves and walk out life in this world as the child You created us to be. All these things we pray in the most Holy name of Your Son, Amen.

"But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. That is why, for the sake of Christ, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." ~ 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (BSB)

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." ~ Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV)

"For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard." ~ Romans 3:23 (NLT)

May the Good Lord bless you and keep you, friends... always, in all ways. Amen.

Bonus song of praise...
