Seeing Through the Eyes of the Father

Writer's picture: Mercedes DauphinaisMercedes Dauphinais

"I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and I know this very well." ~ Psalm 139:14

One of my constant prayers is that God would help me to see His children through His eyes.

I want to be the embodiment of His love in this world. And, no matter how many times I fall short, I will continue to pray the prayer and do my best to be salty on His behalf for others; loved one, neighbor, stranger, and yes, even "enemy."

But, may I ask you a question?

How often do you endeavor to use His eyes to see yourself?

After all, He is "El Roi," the God who sees you, who sees me.

In shifting perspective and trying to see ourselves through His eyes, I'm not talking ego or narcissism. I'm talking about healthy, right-minded, perspective of who you are as a child of the King.

I recently heard someone refer to the antithesis as an experience of "not good enoughness."

But, as I once heard someone else say, "If you saw you the way that He sees you, you'd be unstoppable."

That sounds pretty amazing, don't you think?

God created you with your very own variety of muchness.

So, with a world in your face telling you that you need to be more this, that, or the other thing (translation, we're somehow not enough this, that, or the other thing,) when we lose touch with the truth of who we are, where do we even begin?

Simply, remember that you are His creation. Every detail of you was lovingly and intentionally made on purpose, for a purpose.

Practically?

You can acknowledge yourself at the end of the day for the things you did well, in prayer time with God, take the time to say, "thanks for helping me to be better at ___, today."

Quality relationships with people of faith will help you to see yourself as He sees you. Those people remind you of not only whose you are, but who you are. A sense of belonging in the Body is invaluable.

The number one most valuable thing? Have the conversations with the Father. Take the time to hear His voice. Receiving the truth from Him directly will drown out any noise of the world.

You are a blessing and a gift, and I pray you know it. Whenever those moments come, for whatever reason, reorient your eyes up and do your utmost to remember that you are a child of the Creator of the universe, and by seeing yourself the way He sees you, in collaboration with Him, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.

Abba,

We live in a crazy, broken world. You know that better than anyone.

Thank You for wrapping Your arms around us.

Thank You for shaping us to be right-minded. Thank You for helping us to not only see all of Your children the way You see them, but to see ourselves the way You see us.

We know that when we co-labor with You, all things are possible. Thank You, for welcoming us under Your yoke and guiding us always, in all ways.

In the name Yeshua, we pray.

Amen.

"For the eyes of the LORD roam to and fro over all the earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are fully devoted to Him..." ~ 2 Chronicles 16:9a

"So Hagar gave this name to the LORD who had spoken to her: 'You are the God who sees me,' for she said, 'Here I have seen the One who sees me!'" ~ Genesis 16:13

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, to proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." ~ 1 Peter 2:9

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." ~ 2 Timothy 1:7

May the Good Lord bless you and keep you, friends... always, in all ways. Amen.

Bonus song of praise... ♥
