"But now, O LORD, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You are the potter; we are all the work of Your hand."
~ Isaiah 64:8
Lovingly made. Beautifully crafted. Molded. Shaped. Refined.
And, pots are put through fire to harden the clay and make the vessel useful.
So, not only are we putty in His hands, to be shaped as He will. We must be tempered in the Refiner's fire. These things we know.
But, what I've been thinking about is this...
How often do we engage with Him in that process?
For example, when I catch myself thinking thinks not befitting a follower of the Messiah, I pray to the Father...
Thank You for uprooting in me anything that does not serve You and planting in its stead the fruit of the Holy Spirit and the truth of Your Word.
Do you have prayers like that?
I have another for when I find myself judging, other than, Thank You Father for uprooting judgment in me, I pray...
Thank You for helping me to see your children as you see them, thank You for helping me to love them well.
I don't know if any of that resonates for you. But, as participants in our own refining and shaping process, I'd be curious to know what prayers you might pray.
Am I a willing participant in living into everything He created me to be?
Am I a co-laborer in my own evolution, breath by breath?
Are you?
Just a little food for thought.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Thank You for helping us to be eager participants in growing ever more like Your Son, for helping us to be active in our own evolution into the generous of heart, gracious, merciful, action taking, results getting, children You would have us be.
In the name of your loving Son we pray.
Amen.
"This third I will bring through the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on My name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are My people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’ " ~ Zechariah 13:9
"Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; all day long I wait for You." ~ Psalms 25:4-5
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law." ~ Galatians 5:22-23
May the Good Lord bless you and keep you, friends... always, in all ways. Amen.
Bonus song of praise... ♥
